Univé Contents Insurance
Univé is a well-known insurer that resonates with almost everyone. You can turn to Univé for all kinds of insurance, including health or travel insurance. For anyone looking to insure their home contents, Univé offers a great option. Read more here about the Univé home contents insurance coverage and premium.
Coverage of Univé Home Contents Insurance
With Univé’s home contents insurance, you get very comprehensive coverage. All items in your home are insured against various damages including burglary, fire, storm, vandalism, water damage, and fallen trees. The insurance is not only for household items, furniture, tools, or other garden items; pets are also covered. In addition to compensation for your belongings, you will receive reimbursement for other expenses such as hiring an expert in case of damage, cleaning your home after fire or water damage, and cleanup costs. With the All-Risk home contents insurance, even everyday accidents are covered.
Univé has set maximum amounts for some types of products on the compensation you can receive per incident. You can increase these maximum amounts as desired but will pay an additional monthly premium. Some important coverages are:
Type of Contents | Insured Amount |
---|---|
Contents | Fully insured |
Valuable items | Jewelry up to a maximum of €5,000 (can be increased to €50,000); other valuable contents like your laptop or television up to €10,000 (can be increased to €50,000) |
Additional Options for Univé Home Contents Insurance
In addition to the home contents insurance, you can also take out the following four additional coverages to protect your belongings even better:
Type of Insurance | Insured Details |
---|---|
All-Risk Coverage | By adding the optional All-Risk coverage, you receive a higher payout, and almost all forms of damage to your home, including accidents, are insured. You also need this coverage to take out the Outside-the-Door coverage. |
Outside-the-Door Coverage | The home contents insurance typically covers contents in and around your living space. With this additional coverage, all your valuable possessions outside the home are covered throughout the Netherlands. |
Tenant’s Improvements | Maximum €10,000 (can be increased to €50,000) |
Glass Breakage | Damage to glass is usually not covered by the home contents insurance, but with this coverage, you will be compensated for the consequences of glass damage. |
New-for-Old Value Arrangement
The following rules apply to payouts after damage with Univé:
- If items can be repaired, you will be reimbursed the total repair costs;
- If repair is no longer possible, you usually receive the new-for-old value. However, you will receive the current value if the product is worth 40% or less of the new-for-old value;
- For many expensive products like awnings and satellite dishes, you only receive the current value.
Deductible
At Univé, you can choose whether to have a deductible on the home contents insurance. This is not mandatory. If you opt for a deductible of €250 per incident, you will receive a discount on your monthly premium. In addition to the optional deductible, the following deductible also applies:
- If the damage occurs during a renovation and is caused by a storm, a deductible of €250 applies per incident.
What Is Not Insured?
If you submit a claim to the insurer, they will assess your situation to determine if you are eligible for compensation. However, there are several situations that are never covered by the home contents insurance. At Univé, these include:
- Business goods;
- Damage due to intent;
- Damage due to construction errors;
- Poor maintenance and lack of prevention;
- Illegal activities.
