Liability insurance ABN AMRO: coverage
With the liability insurance from ABN AMRO you are properly insured against different types of accidents. This concerns damage that you accidentally caused to other people’s belongings. As a student, you often have a very active and social life. Accidents are inevitable, there is always the possibility of you accidentally spilling your drink over someone’s laptop. Damage to other people’s belongings that have been caused by your pet, is also covered with this insurance. Even tho liability insurance is not mandatory, it is convenient since it provides coverage for unexpectedly high costs resulting from an accident.
Has any damage occurred? In that case, you must contact ABN AMRO as soon as possible to report the damage. The insurer will then determine the extent of the damage. When taking out a liability insurance policy with ABN Amro, you can choose from the following coverages:
- Damage amount up to a maximum of €1.250.000: premium starting from €3,61.
- Damage amount up to a maximum of €2.500.000: premium starting from €4,51.
The premium was set based on a 22 year old single student without children, living in Utrecht. In addition, ABN Amro charges a one-time administration fee per premium deduction. Below you will find an overview of coverage limitations:
- Damage to your rental home or vacation home: up to a maximum of €75.000 per incident die fire, water leakage, or explosion.
- Damage to someone else’s belongings in your possession: up to a maximum €25.000 per incident.
- Rented or borrowed medical equipment: up to maximum of €10.000 per incident.
What exactly is ensured?
The liability insurance from ABN AMRO provides coverage for your liability as a private individual. In addition, it also provides coverage for:
- Guests staying with you who are not insured themselves;
- Your pet accidentally causing damage;
- Staff working in your home (e.g. a cleaner);
- Friendly services, including help with moving;
- Sports and situations like playing around
- Damage if you, as the insured, are staying elsewhere or babysitting.
Moreover, ABN AMRO’s liability insurance is valid worldwide.
What is not ensured?
There are certain circumstances or types of damage that are not eligible for compensation under the ABN AMRO liability insurance. These include:
- Damage caused on purpose;
- Damage to your own property, for example, to an item belonging to the insured or another person at the same address;
- Damage caused by a vehicle or watercraft;
- Damage caused by the use of firearms
- Damage caused in your capacity as a landlord, employer, or employee.
Deductible
The liability insurance from ABN AMRO does not have a mandatory deductible. This means that no part of the damage amount will have to be covered by you. If desired, you can opt for a voluntary deductible of €100. If you decide on a voluntary deductible, you receive an additional discount on your premium.
