Univé Liability Insurance

Univé is a cooperative. This means combining forces to share risks that you cannot or do not want to bear alone. By combining forces, you create peace of mind and security. Univé originated from regional cooperatives founded as early as 1794. A hallmark of Univé is that this insurer still has a strong regional character. On this page, the focus is on Univé’s liability insurance.

Univé Liability Insurance: Coverage

With a liability insurance policy from Univé, you are insured for many accidents. In this case, we are talking about damage you unintentionally cause to another person or their property. As an active student, it’s not impossible that you could find yourself in an unfortunate situation, and handling it without insurance could cost you a lot of money. Think, for example, of spilling a glass of red wine over the carpet during a fun evening with friends. Or when, while studying, you unknowingly place a fellow student’s laptop too close to a candle, causing the screen to burn.

What is covered?

Univé’s liability insurance provides coverage for, among other things, the following situations:

  • You are insured for damage for which you are legally liable;
  • The insurance covers personal injury or damage to others’ property;
  • If your pet causes damage, this is also covered by the liability insurance;
  • Damage caused by or with your bicycle is also reimbursed;
  • If you are staying somewhere or babysitting and causing injury or damage to something or someone, the insurance covers it;
  • You are insured for damage caused by a model airplane or drone up to 25 kilos;
  • The insurance covers damage you have caused to items you have borrowed from others;
  • The insurance offers free coverage up to €12,500 for damage caused to others in exceptional situations where you feel responsible but are not legally liable—for example, accidentally dropping a friend’s television while helping them move.

What is not covered?

  • Damage caused intentionally is never covered by the insurance;
  • Liability insurance does not cover damage to your property;
  • Insurance also does not cover damage to items borrowed or rented from companies;
  • Liability insurance does not cover damage caused by a car, motorcycle, moped, or scooter.

Deductible and Coverage Area

With Univé’s liability insurance, you do not pay a deductible. This means there’s no extra cost to you. However, you need to pay for the damage initially, after which the insurer reimburses you, provided the situation falls under the policy conditions. Furthermore, the insurance coverage is worldwide.

Damage Protocol

Univé aims to help you quickly and effectively in the event of damage. To achieve this, there are a few things you need to keep in mind:

  • Always try to minimise the damage and prevent further damage;
  • Report the damage to Univé as soon as possible; this can be done online, at a nearby office, or by phone;
  • Check if other insurance policies might also cover the damage;
  • Let Univé handle the situation, allowing them to assess and manage the damage.

Discount

The more insurance policies you take out with Univé, the more discounts you are rewarded with. With two insurance policies, you get a 2% discount. With three insurance policies, you get a 3% discount, which continues up to a maximum discount of 10% with ten insurance policies.
