Univé is one of the largest insurance companies in the Netherlands. It is an association, which implies that as a customer, you are also a member. Their primary goal is to represent the interests of the members, not directly to make a profit. Univé is the result of mergers between different cooperatives and has existed in its current form since 1991. Univé offers various types of insurance. With regards to travel insurance, you can turn to Univé for both continuous and short-term travel insurance.

Travel insurance

The premium for the continuous travel insurance is paid monthly. If you only occasionally go on short vacations, you can take out short-term travel insurance for that short period. However, the longer you go on vacation (and the more regularly), the more advantageous continuous travel insurance is.

At Univé, you can choose from a fairly extensive range of additional coverages. The additional coverages are explained one by one below.

Cancellation Module

Imagine you are going on a trip and a loved one passes away shortly before you leave. It could also be that you have to interrupt your trip halfway through due to circumstances. With the cancellation module, you will be reimbursed for the unenjoyed travel days up to a certain maximum amount. You can choose for a refund up to a maximum of €1500,- or €3000,-.

Abroad, you may unexpectedly incur additional medical costs. The basic insurance only reimburses the amount that the treatment would have cost in the Netherlands. If you do not have supplementary health insurance, this module provides a solution.

When planning a nice vacation, an accident might not be the first thing you think about. But imagine the far-reaching consequences of an accident that leaves you permanently disabled or, in the worst case, leads to death. With the accident coverage, a sum will be paid out in such a case.

If you have chosen a short-term travel insurance policy from Univé or the continuous travel insurance policy, the standard coverage is limited to Europe. If you are planning a long trip outside of Europe, the additional worldwide coverage module is the most suitable module for you.

Validity Duration Extension Module

If you opt for continuous travel insurance, you can extend the validity duration of the insurance to 180 consecutive days of travel, instead of the maximum of 60 days.

Extra Services from the Insurer

Univé offers several extra services. With the free Univé travel app, you will have access to the most important phone numbers, checklists, and useful tips for your holiday. There’s also a transfer service. Are you already insured with another insurer? In that case Univé will do the transfer work for you and personally ensures that the transfer with your old insurer is arranged.

Univé Discounts

If you have taken out multiple casualty insurances with Univé, the discount can be up to a maximum of 10%.
